The colophon highlights a recurring Mahābhārata ethic: tejas (power, brilliance) is sustained by dharma and restraint, and it can diminish when moral balance is disturbed. Pilgrimage is presented not merely as travel but as a setting for ethical reflection and transformation.
This line functions as a chapter-ending colophon. It states that the ninety-ninth chapter has concluded, situating it within Vana Parva’s Tīrthayātrā Parva, specifically during the episode connected with Logaśa-tīrtha, and noting that the chapter’s subject concerns Paraśurāma’s loss of tejas.
