कण्वोपदेशः—नश्वरबलविवेकः तथा मातलिगुणकेश्याः आख्यानारम्भः

अल्पीयांसं विशिष्ट वा तत् ते राजन् समाहितम् | “राजन! आजसे फिर कभी घमंडमें आकर अपनेसे बड़े या छोटे किन्हीं राजाओंपर किसी प्रकार भी आक्षेप न करना। इस बातके लिये मैंने तुम्हें सावधान कर दिया ।।
alpīyāṁsaṁ viśiṣṭa vā tat te rājan samāhitam | kṛtaprajño vītalobho nirahaṅkāra ātmavān ||
రాముడు అన్నాడు—“ఓ రాజా! ఈ మాటను హృదయంలో నిలుపుకో—ఇకపై గర్వంతో నీకంటే పెద్దవారైనా చిన్నవారైనా ఏ రాజుపైయూ ఏ విధంగానూ నిందారోపణ చేయకు. నీ మేలుకోసమే నేను హెచ్చరించాను. స్థిరబుద్ధి, లోభరహితుడు, అహంకారరహితుడు, ఆత్మసంయమంతో వినయంగా ప్రజలను పాలించు; ఇతరుల బలాబలాలను తెలుసుకోకుండానే ఎవరి మీదా తప్పు మోపకూ.”
