यन्मां वागब्रवीन्नक्तं सूतके सव्यसाचिन: । पुत्रस्ते पृथिवीं जेता यशश्चास्य दिवं स्पृशेत्,“अर्जुनके जन्मकालमें जब मैं सूतिकागृहमें थी, उस रात्रिमें आकाशवाणीने मुझसे यह कहा था--*भद्रे! तेरा यह पुत्र सारी पृथ्वीको जीत लेगा। इसका यश स्वर्गलोक-तक फैल जायगा। यह महान् संग्राममें कौरवोंका संहार करके राज्यपर अधिकार कर लेगा, फिर अपने भाइयोंके साथ तीन अश्वमेधयज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान करेगा”

వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను— సవ్యసాచీ జన్మించిన వేళ, ప్రసూతిగృహంలో ఆ రాత్రి ఆకాశవాణి నన్ను ఉద్దేశించి ఇలా చెప్పింది— ‘భద్రే! నీ కుమారుడు సమస్త భూమండలాన్ని జయిస్తాడు; అతని యశస్సు స్వర్గలోకమును తాకుతుంది.’
