'प्रजजलित अग्निके समान इस प्रचण्ड क्रोधको हृदयमें रखकर प्रतीक्षा करते मुझे तेरह वर्ष बीत गये हैं ।। विदीर्यते मे हृदयं भीमवाक्छल्यपीडितम् । योडयमद्य महाबाहुर्धर्ममेवानुपश्यति
prajvalitāgnike samānaṃ pracaṇḍaṃ krodhaṃ hṛdaye nidhāya pratīkṣamāṇasya mama trayodaśa varṣāṇi vyatītāni || vidīryate me hṛdayaṃ bhīmavākśalyapīḍitam | yo ’yam adya mahābāhur dharmam evānupaśyati ||
వైశంపాయనుడు చెప్పెను—ప్రజ్వలిత అగ్నివలె ఈ ఉగ్రకోపాన్ని హృదయంలో దాచుకొని ఎదురుచూస్తూ నాకు పదమూడు సంవత్సరాలు గడిచాయి. భీముని కఠిన వాక్యశల్యంతో నా హృదయం చీలిపోతోంది; అయినా ఈ మహాబాహువు ఈనాటికీ ధర్మాన్నే మాత్రమే అనుసంధానిస్తున్నాడు.
