Sañjaya’s Report

यां तां वने दुःखशबय्यामवात्सीत्‌ प्रत्राजित: पाण्डवो धर्मचारी । आप्रोतु तां दुःखतरामनर्था- मन्त्यां श्य्यां धार्तराष्ट्र: परासु:,धर्मात्मा पाण्डुनन्दन युधिष्ठिरने वनमें निर्वासित होकर जिस दुःखशय्यापर शयन किया है, दुर्योधन अपने प्राणोंका त्याग करके उससे भी अधिक दुःख-दायिनी और अनर्थकारिणी मृत्युकी अन्तिम शय्याको ग्रहण करे

sañjaya uvāca |

yāṃ tāṃ vane duḥkhaśayyām avātsīt pradrājitaḥ pāṇḍavo dharmacārī |

āpnotu tāṃ duḥkhataraṃ anarthām antyāṃ śayyāṃ dhārtarāṣṭraḥ parāsuḥ ||

సంజయుడు పలికెను—ధర్మనిష్ఠుడైన పాండవుడు, నిర్వాసితుడై వనంలో ఏ దుఃఖశయ్యపై శయనించాడో, ధృతరాష్ట్రుని కుమారుడు (దుర్యోధనుడు) ప్రాణత్యాగం చేసి, దానికన్నా మరింత దుఃఖదాయకమైన, అనర్థకరమైన మరణశయ్య అనే చివరి శయ్యను పొందుగాక.
