Drupada’s Counsel on Conciliation and Alliance Mobilization

drupada uvāca | evam etan mahābāho bhaviṣyati na saṁśayaḥ | na hi duryodhano rājyaṁ madhureṇa pradāsyati |

Educational Q&A

Mere sweetness of speech cannot move a person fixed in greed and obstinacy; ethical and political outcomes depend on character, not only on diplomacy.

Drupada responds to counsel about the coming course of events, affirming that Duryodhana will not relinquish sovereignty through conciliatory words, foreshadowing the failure of peaceful settlement.
