Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace

अनेयस्याश्रेयसो दीर्घमन्यो- मित्रद्रुह: संजय पापबुद्धे: । सुतस्य राजा धृतराष्ट्र: प्रियेषी प्रपश्यमान: प्राजहाद्‌ धर्मकामौ,संजय! दूसरोंका मान मिटाकर अपना मान चाहनेवाले, ईर्ष्यालु, क्रोधी, अर्थ और धर्मका उल्लंघन करनेवाले, कटुवचन बोलनेवाले, क्रोध और दीनताके वशवर्ती, कामात्मा (भोगासक्त), पापियोंसे प्रशंसित, शिक्षा देनेके अयोग्य, भाग्यहीन, अधिक क्रोधी, मित्रद्रोही तथा पापबुद्धि पुत्र दुर्योधनका प्रिय चाहनेवाले राजा धृतराष्ट्रने समझते हुए भी धर्म और कामका परित्याग किया है

sañjaya uvāca |

aneyasyāśreyaso dīrgham anyo-

mitradruhaḥ sañjaya pāpabuddheḥ |

sutasya rājā dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ priyeṣī

prapaśyamānaḥ prājahād dharmakāmau, sañjaya! |

సంజయుడు పలికెను—ఓ సంజయా! పాపబుద్ధి, మిత్రద్రోహి, దీర్ఘకాలముగా శ్రేయస్సుకాని దానినే అనుసరించువాడు అయిన తన కుమారుని ప్రియముగా భావించిన ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు, ఫలితమును స్పష్టముగా చూచుచున్నప్పటికీ, ధర్మమును మరియు నియమిత కామమును రెండింటినీ విడిచెను.
