Udyoga Parva, Adhyaya 2 — Baladeva’s Counsel on Peace, Restitution, and Court Protocol

labdhvā hi rājyaṃ puruṣapravīrāḥ samyakpravṛtteṣu pareṣu caiva | dhruvaṃ praśāntāḥ sukham āviśeyus teṣāṃ praśāntiś ca hitaṃ prajānām ||

Educational Q&A

Just governance prioritizes peace and public welfare: if a fair share of power is granted and the opposing side behaves rightly, hostility can subside, benefiting both ruling houses and the subjects.

Balarāma argues for a settlement: if the Pāṇḍavas receive their rightful portion of the kingdom and the Kaurava side acts properly, the Pāṇḍavas will live peacefully, leading to stability for the Kauravas and prosperity for the people.
