Adhyāya 195 — Arjuna’s Capability and Restraint Regarding Divyāstras

शकटापणवेशाश्र यान॑ युग्यं च सर्वश: । तत्र नागसहस्राणि हयानामयुतानि च । फल्गु सर्व कलत्रं च यत्किज्चित्‌ कृशदुर्बलम्‌,इनके सिवा और भी बहुत-से छकड़े, दूकानें, वेश-भूषाके सामान, सवारियाँ, सामान ढोनेकी गाड़ी, एक सहस्र हाथी, अनेक अयुत घोड़े, अन्य छोटी-मोटी वस्तुएँ, स्त्रियाँ, कृश और दुर्बल मनुष्य, कोश-संग्रह और उनके ढोनेवाले लोग तथा कोष्ठागार आदि सब कुछ संग्रह करके राजा युधिष्ठिर धीरे-धीरे गजसेनाके साथ यात्रा कर रहे थे

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: śakaṭāpaṇa-veśāśraya-yānāni yugyaṃ ca sarvaśaḥ | tatra nāga-sahasrāṇi hayānām ayutāni ca | phalgu sarva-kalatraṃ ca yat kiñcit kṛśa-durbalam ||

వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను— అక్కడ అన్ని విధాలుగా బండ్లు, రథాలు, అంగడులు, వేషభూషా-సామగ్రి, ప్రయాణ వాహనాలు, జూకట్టిన అన్ని రకాల వాహనాలు సమకూర్చబడినవి. అక్కడ వేలాది ఏనుగులు, అయుతాల కొద్దీ గుర్రాలు; ఇంకా చిన్నచిన్న వస్తువులు, స్త్రీలు-కుటుంబాలు, కృశులు, దుర్బలులు లేదా శ్రమను భరించలేనివారు—తోడు తీసుకెళ్లవలసినదంతా సమస్తంగా సేకరించబడింది।

Even when rulers act under the banner of dharma, large-scale action—especially movement toward war—inevitably involves dependents, resources, and the vulnerable. The verse highlights the ethical gravity of leadership: decisions ripple through entire households and those least able to endure hardship.
