Ambā’s Vow of Tapas after Paraśurāma’s Assessment (अम्बाया तपोव्रतनिश्चयः)

पुन: पुनर्याच्यमानो दिष्टमित्यब्रवीच्छिव: । न तदन्यच्च भविता भवितव्यं हि तत्‌ तथा,तब राजा ट्रुपद नगरको लौट गये और अपनी पत्नीसे इस प्रकार बोले--*देवि! मैंने बड़ा प्रयत्न किया। तपस्याके द्वारा महादेवजीकी आराधना की। तब भगवान्‌ शंकरने प्रसन्न होकर कहा--पहले तुम्हें पुत्री होगी; फिर वही पुत्रके रूपमें परिणत हो जायगी। मैंने बार- बार केवल पुत्रके लिये याचना की; परंतु भगवान्‌ शिवने इसे दैवका विधान बताया है और कहा--“यह बदल नहीं सकता। जो कहा गया है, वही होगा'

punaḥ punar yācyamāno diṣṭam ity abravīc chivaḥ | na tad anyac ca bhavitā bhavitavyaṃ hi tat tathā ||

మళ్లీ మళ్లీ వేడుకున్నా శివుడు— “ఇది దైవవిధి” అని అన్నాడు. మరల— “ఇది వేరేలా కాదు; జరగవలసినది అచ్చంగా అలాగే జరుగుతుంది” అని చెప్పాడు.
