अम्बोवाच अपनीतास्मि भीष्मेण भगवन्नविजानता । नाभिजानाति मे भीष्मो ब्रह्मन् शाल्वगतं मन:,अम्बा बोली--भगवन्! भीष्म बिना जाने-बूझे मुझे हर लाये थे। ब्रह्मन्! उन्हें इस बातका पता नहीं था कि मेरा मन शाल्वमें अनुरक्त है
ambovāca apānītāsmi bhīṣmeṇa bhagavann avijānātā | nābhijānāti me bhīṣmo brahman śālvagataṁ manaḥ ||
అంబా పలికెను—భగవన్! భీష్ముడు తెలియకనే నన్ను అపహరించి తెచ్చెను. బ్రాహ్మణా! నా మనస్సు శాల్వునందే ఆసక్తమై ఉన్నదని భీష్మునకు తెలియలేదు.
अकृतव्रण उवाच
The verse foregrounds ethical tension between social custom and personal intention: actions like carrying a woman away for marriage are morally compromised when done without knowledge of her prior commitment and consent, and ignorance does not erase the harm caused.
Ambā explains to a revered Brāhmaṇa that Bhīṣma abducted her without realizing she was already emotionally committed to King Śālva; she emphasizes Bhīṣma’s lack of awareness of her inner choice.
