भीष्मकृतः पाण्डवपक्ष-महारथ-प्रशंसा
Bhishma’s appraisal of Pandava-aligned chariot-warriors
परुष: कत्थनो नीच: कर्णो वैकर्तनस्तव । मन्त्री नेता च बन्धुश्न मानी चात्यन्तमुच्छित:
paruṣaḥ katthano nīcaḥ karṇo vaikartanas tava | mantrī netā ca bandhuś ca mānī cātyantam ucchritaḥ ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—ఓ రాజా! నీ వైకర్తన కర్ణుడు కఠినవాక్కులతో, ఆత్మస్తుతితో, నీచాచారంతో ఉన్నవాడు. అయినా అతడే నీ మంత్రి, నీ నాయకుడు, నీ బంధువు అయ్యాడు; గర్వంతో నీ ఆశ్రయాన్ని పొందీ అత్యంత ఉన్నతస్థితికి ఎదిగాడు.
