भीष्म उवाच प्रजानां क्रोशतीनां वै नैवाक्षुभ्यत मे मन: । प्रतिज्ञां रक्षमाणस्य सद्‌ वृत्तं स्मरतस्तथा

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca prajānāṁ krośatīnāṁ vai naivākṣubhyata me manaḥ | pratijñāṁ rakṣamāṇasya sadvṛttaṁ smaratastathā ||

Translation

భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—ప్రజల ఆర్తనాదం విన్నప్పటికీ నా మనస్సు ఏమాత్రం చలించలేదు; ఎందుకంటే నేను నా ప్రతిజ్ఞను కాపాడటంలో నిమగ్నుడనై, సదాచారాన్ని స్మరిస్తూ నిలిచాను.
