Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 13: Śacī’s Delay, Deva-Counsel, and Indra’s Purification
अकम्पन्नहुषं स्थानाद् दृष्टवा बलनिषूदन: । तेजोघ्नं सर्वभूतानां वरदानाच्च दुःसहम्,परंतु बल नामक दानवका नाश करनेवाले इन्द्र जब अपना स्थान ग्रहण करनेके लिये स्वर्गलोकमें आये, तब उन्होंने देखा--नहुष देवताओंके वरदानसे अपनी दृष्टिमात्रसे समस्त प्राणियोंके तेजको नष्ट करनेमें समर्थ और दुःसह हो गया है। यह देखकर वे काँप उठे
akampan nahuṣaṁ sthānād dṛṣṭvā balanīṣūdanaḥ | tejoghnam sarvabhūtānāṁ varadānāc ca duḥsaham ||
బల అనే దానవుని సంహరించిన ఇంద్రుడు తన ఆసనాన్ని తిరిగి అధిష్ఠించుటకు స్వర్గానికి వచ్చినప్పుడు, దేవతల వరదానములవల్ల నహుషుడు అసహ్యకరుడై, కేవలం చూపుతోనే సమస్త ప్రాణుల తేజస్సును హరించగలవాడై ఉన్నాడని చూచెను. అది చూచి ఇంద్రుడు భయంతో కంపించెను.
