Yuddha-yajña-vyākhyāna (The Battle as Sacrifice): Ambarīṣa–Indra Saṃvāda

तृणपूर्णमुखश्चैव तवास्मीति च यो वदेत्‌ । युद्धमें वृद्ध, बालक और स्त्रियोंका वध नहीं करना चाहिये, किसी भागते हुएकी पीठमें आघात नहीं करना चाहिये, जो मुँहमें तिनका लिये शरण में आ जाय और कहने लगे कि मैं आपका ही हूँ, उसका भी वध नहीं करना चाहिये || ४८ $ ।। जम्भं वृत्रं बलं पाकं शतमायं विरोचनम्‌,जम्भ, वृत्रासुर, बलासुर, पाकासुर, सैकड़ों माया जाननेवाले विरोचन, दुर्जय वीर नमुचि, विविधमायाविशारद शम्बरासुर, दैत्यवंशी विप्रचित्ति, सम्पूर्ण दानवदल तथा प्रह्नादको भी युद्धमें मारकर मैं देवराजके पदपर प्रतिष्ठित हुआ हूँ

tṛṇapūrṇamukhaś caiva tavāsmīti ca yo vadet |

నోటిలో గడ్డి పెట్టుకొని—శరణాగతి సూచనగా—‘నేను నీ వాడను’ అని చెప్పేవాడినీ హతమార్చకూడదు।
