Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament for Karṇa and Renunciation-Oriented Self-Assessment (शोक-प्रलापः / त्याग-प्रवृत्तिः)

ख्यापनेनानुतापेन दानेन तपसापि वा । धनंजय! किया हुआ पाप कहनेसे, शुभ कर्म करनेसे, पछतानेसे, दान करनेसे और तपस्यासे भी नष्ट होता है

khyāpanenānutāpena dānena tapasāpi vā | dhanaṃjaya! kṛtaṃ pāpaṃ kathanena, śubha-karma-karaṇena, paścāttāpena, dānena ca tapasā ca api naśyati |

ధనంజయా! చేసిన పాపం బహిరంగంగా ఒప్పుకోవడం వల్ల, నిజమైన పశ్చాత్తాపం వల్ల, శుభకర్మలు చేయడం వల్ల, దానం వల్ల, అలాగే తపస్సు వల్ల కూడా నశిస్తుంది.
