अथास्य पादौ जग्राह भीष्मश्नापि ननन्द तम्‌ | मूर्थ्नि चैनमुपाच्राय निषीदेत्यब्रवीत्‌ तदा,फिर उन्होंने भीष्मजीके दोनों चरण पकड़ लिये। तब भीष्मजीने उन्हें आश्वासन देकर प्रसन्न किया और उनका मस्तक सूँघकर कहा--“बेटा! बैठ जाओ”

athāsya pādau jagrāha bhīṣmaś cāpi nananda tam | mūrdhni cainam upāghrāya niṣīdety abravīt tadā ||

అప్పుడు అతడు భీష్ముని రెండు పాదాలను పట్టుకున్నాడు. భీష్ముడు స్నేహంతో అతనిని ఆదరించి ధైర్యం చెప్పి, అతని శిరస్సును మ్రొక్కి (వాసన చూచి) ఆశీర్వదించి, అప్పుడు—“వత్సా, కూర్చో” అని పలికెను.
