वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse models dharmic reverence: the wise praise the Supreme (Keśava/Puruṣottama) while also honoring a human exemplar of duty (Bhīṣma). It suggests that devotion and ethical admiration are complementary—recognizing divine sovereignty and the value of steadfast righteousness in human life.
A group of eminent brāhmaṇas are offering praise. While extolling Keśava as the Supreme Person, they also repeatedly and gently commend Bhīṣma, reflecting the atmosphere of respectful acknowledgment surrounding Bhīṣma’s stature and the sacredness of the moment in Śānti Parva.
