Shloka 3

सो5भिगम्य यथान्यायं नागायतनमर्थवित्‌ | प्रोक्ततानहमस्मीति भो:शब्दालंकृतं वच:,अपने उद्देश्यको ठीक-ठीक समझनेवाला वह ब्राह्मण विधिपूर्वक यात्रा करके नागके घरपर जा पहुँचा। घरके द्वारपर पहुँचकर उसने “भो:' शब्दसे विभूषित वचन बोलते हुए पुकार लगायी--*कोई है? मैं यहाँ द्वारपर आया हूँ

so 'bhigamya yathānyāyaṃ nāgāyatanam arthavit | proktatān aham asmīti bhoḥ-śabdālaṅkṛtaṃ vacaḥ ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను— తన ఉద్దేశ్యాన్ని స్పష్టంగా గ్రహించిన ఆ జ్ఞాని విధివిధానంగా సాగి నాగుని నివాసానికి చేరెను. ద్వారమునకు వచ్చి ‘భోః’ అనే గౌరవసంబోధనతో అలంకృతమైన వినయవాక్యాలతో— “ఎవరైనా ఉన్నారా? నేను ద్వారమునకు వచ్చితిని” అని పిలిచెను.
