Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)

yaś cedaṃ śṛṇuyān nityaṃ yaś cainaṃ parikīrtayet | namo bhagavate kṛtvā samāhitamatir naraḥ |

Educational Q&A

Regular listening and recitation of a sacred teaching, performed with reverence to Bhagavān and a concentrated mind, is presented as a dharmic discipline that cultivates virtues (wisdom, strength, excellence) and alleviates suffering (freedom from illness and bondage).

Vaiśampāyana is describing the promised fruits (phalaśruti) of hearing and proclaiming the preceding discourse: the listener/reciter, after offering salutation to the Lord and focusing the mind, gains well-being and release from afflictions.
