एकान्तिधर्म-प्रश्नः (Inquiry into Ekāntin Dharma) / The Origin and Practice of Single-Pointed Nārāyaṇa-Centered Discipline

काम्यनैमित्तिका राजन्‌ यज्ञिया: परमक्रिया: । सर्वा: सात्वतमास्थाय विधि चक्रे समाहित:,राजन! वे सदा सावधान रहकर सकाम और नैमित्तिक यज्ञोंकी सम्पूर्ण क्रियाओंको वैष्णवशास्त्रोक्त विधिसे सम्पन्न किया करते थे

kāmyanaimittikā rājan yajñiyāḥ paramakriyāḥ | sarvāḥ sātvatam āsthāya vidhiṃ cakre samāhitaḥ ||

భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—ఓ రాజా! వారు ఎల్లప్పుడూ సమాహితచిత్తులై, ఫలాపేక్షతో చేయబడే (కామ్య) మరియు సందర్భానుసారమైన (నైమిత్తిక) యజ్ఞక్రియలన్నిటినీ సాత్వత (వైష్ణవ) సంప్రదాయాన్ని ఆశ్రయించి శాస్త్రవిధి ప్రకారం పరమంగా నిర్వహించేవారు.

Educational Q&A

Ritual action becomes ethically grounded when performed with attentiveness and in obedience to a recognized dharmic rule (vidhi). Even goal-oriented rites (kāmya) are to be regulated by discipline, tradition, and devotion rather than mere desire.
