Educational Q&A

Though the line is primarily narrative, within the Śānti Parvan’s rājadharma context it underscores how seemingly small, ordinary actions and settings (a child playing in an isolated place) can become the starting point for later events, inviting reflection on foresight, protection of dependents, and responsibility.

Parvata describes a scene: after some prior events, a boy goes with his nurse into a deserted forest to the riverbank of Gaḍā to play, and he runs about in different directions—setting the stage for the next development in the episode.
