Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)
ऊचुः प्राउज्जलय: सर्वे कथ्यतां को भवानिति | तब ब्रह्मा आदि देवता तथा प्रजापति दक्ष--ये सब के-सब हाथ जोड़कर बोले --देवदेव! कहिये, आप कौन हैं?” || ५० है ।।
Vīrabhadra uvāca: Nāhaṃ rudro na vā devī naiva bhoktum ihāgataḥ.
అప్పుడు బ్రహ్మ మొదలైన దేవతలు, ప్రజాపతి దక్షుడు—అందరూ అంజలి ఘటించి అన్నారు: “దేవదేవా! మీరు ఎవరో చెప్పండి.” వీరభద్రుడు అన్నాడు: “నేను రుద్రుడను కాను, దేవిని కూడా కాను; భోగములు గాని హవిస్సు గాని స్వీకరించుటకు నేను ఇక్కడికి రాలేదు.”
