Educational Q&A

Unrestrained anger—even when divine—disturbs the harmony of the world; peace returns through appeasement and restoration of balance. The verse underscores the ethical priority of śānti (calm, reconciliation) over the perpetuation of wrath.

Bhīṣma addresses Mahādeva, stating that the gods and sages are afflicted by his anger and cannot attain peace. The line functions as a plea or acknowledgment that the cosmic community is unsettled until Mahādeva’s wrath is pacified.
