यज्ञेऽहिंसा-प्राधान्यम्

Primacy of Non-Harm in Sacrificial Ethics

पायसै: सुमनोभिश्न तस्यापि यजन स्मृतम्‌ । ब्राह्मण तो सम्पूर्ण यज्ञोंमें भगवान्‌ विष्णुका ही आदरभाव मानते हैं और खीर तथा फूल आदिसे ही उनकी पूजाका विधान है

pāyasaiḥ sumanobhiś ca tasyāpi yajanaṃ smṛtam | brāhmaṇāḥ tu samparṇe yajñeṣu bhagavān viṣṇum eva ādara-bhāvena manyante, kṣīra-pāyasa-puṣpādibhiḥ eva ca tasya pūjā-vidhānaṃ smṛtam ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—ఆయనకూడా పాయసం (ఖీరు) మరియు సుగంధ పుష్పాలతో పూజింపబడతాడని స్మృతిలో చెప్పబడింది। బ్రాహ్మణులు సంపూర్ణ విధితో జరిగే యజ్ఞాలలో భగవాన్ విష్ణువునే పరమ గౌరవంతో ఆరాధిస్తారు; ఆయన పూజకు ఖీరు, పుష్పములు మొదలైన సరళ నైవేద్యాలే విధిగా నిర్దేశించబడ్డాయి।
