यद्यूष्मभाव आग्नेयो वह्लिना पच्यते यदि । अग्निर्जरयते चैतत्‌ तस्माज्जीवो निरर्थक:,यदि शरीरमें गर्मी अग्निका अंश है, यदि अग्निसे ही खाये हुए अन्नका परिपाक होता है, यदि अग्नि ही सबको जीर्ण करती है, तब तो जीवकी सत्ता मानना व्यर्थ ही है

yady ūṣmabhāva āgneyo vahninā pacyate yadi | agnir jarayate caitat tasmāj jīvo nirarthakaḥ ||

శరీరంలోని ఉష్ణత అగ్నియొక్క భాగమే అయితే, తిన్న ఆహారం అగ్నిచేతనే పాకి జీర్ణమవుతుంటే, అగ్నియే అన్నిటినీ జరిపిస్తుంటే—అప్పుడు ‘జీవుడు’ అనే స్వతంత్ర సత్త్వాన్ని అంగీకరించడం వ్యర్థమే.
