Educational Q&A

Rājadharma is not merely political power but a moral discipline with consequences; the verse frames kingship ethics through an ancient precedent (a curse pronounced by Brahmā), implying that deviation from rightful conduct brings inevitable repercussions.

Bhīṣma reports that Indra narrated to the ancient figure Virūpākṣa an old episode: the circumstances in which Brahmā once issued a curse connected with rājadharma, setting up a traditional explanation for later ethical or political outcomes.
