भीष्म उवाच अत्र ते वर्तयिष्यामि पुराणमृषिसंस्तुतम्‌ । इन्द्रोत: शौनको विप्रो यदाह जनमेजयम्‌

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | atra te vartayiṣyāmi purāṇam ṛṣi-saṁstutam | indrotaḥ śaunako vipro yad āha janamejayam ||

Translation

భీష్ముడు పలికెను— రాజా! ఈ విషయములో ఋషులచే ప్రశంసింపబడిన ఒక పురాతనాఖ్యానమును నేను నీకు వివరిస్తాను; శౌనక వంశీయుడైన బ్రాహ్మణుడు ఇంద్రోతుడు రాజు జనమేజయునకు చెప్పినదే అది।
