धार्तराष्ट्रबले शेषास्त्रयः समितिमर्दना: । कृपश्च कृतवर्मा च द्रोणपुत्रश्न वीर्यवान्,महाबाहु माधव! जो वहाँ नहीं मारे गये हैं, उनके नाम भी मुझसे सुन लो। दुर्योधनकी सेनामें कृपाचार्य, कृतवर्मा और पराक्रमी द्रोणपुत्र अश्वत्थामा-ये शत्रुदलका मर्दन करनेवाले तीन ही वीर शेष रह गये हैं

ధృతరాష్ట్ర బలములో సమరమర్దకులైన ముగ్గురే శేషమయ్యారు—కృపుడు, కృతవర్ముడు, మరియు పరాక్రమశాలి ద్రోణపుత్రుడు (అశ్వత్థామ).
नारद उवाच
The verse underscores the stark moral and existential residue of war: even after vast slaughter, a few powerful survivors remain, and their continued agency can shape further consequences. It invites reflection on how violence rarely ends neatly and how dharma must be navigated amid lingering enmity and unresolved outcomes.
Narada informs Krishna (Madhava) that, from Duryodhana’s side, only three notable warriors are left alive—Kripa, Kritavarma, and Ashvatthama—identifying them as formidable battle-crushers who survived the carnage.
