अध्याय ३: कृपस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति नीत्युपदेशः
Kṛpa’s Counsel to Duryodhana
तस्य तदू वचन राज्ञ: पूजयित्वा महारथा:,राजा दुर्योधनकी उस बातका आदर करके वे महारथी क्षत्रिय पुनः युद्ध करनेके लिये पाण्डवोंके सामने आये। उन्हें पराजय असह्यु हो उठी थी; इसलिये उन्होंने पराक्रम करनेमें ही मन लगाया था
tasya tad u vacanaṁ rājñaḥ pūjayitvā mahārathāḥ punar yuddhāya pāṇḍavānām abhimukham ājagmuḥ; parājayo hy eṣām asahyaḥ samabhavat, tasmāt te parākrame eva manaḥ cakruḥ.
సంజయుడు పలికెను—రాజు వాక్యాన్ని గౌరవించి ఆ మహారథ క్షత్రియులు మళ్లీ యుద్ధార్థం పాండవుల ఎదుటికి దూసుకొచ్చారు. పరాజయం వారికి అసహ్యమైపోయింది; అందుచేత పరాక్రమంలోనే మనస్సు నిలిపి సమరంలో మళ్లీ ఉత్సాహంగా శ్రమించారు.
