Śalya-parva Adhyāya 26 — Duryodhana’s remnant formation and rapid engagements
abhyadravanta saṅgrāme bhīmasenaṃ yuyutsavaḥ |
The verse highlights a battlefield ethic of resolve: even when fear arises after a hero’s fall, the warrior’s commitment to combat (kṣatriya-dharma) can compel action. It also subtly shows the tension between human emotion (panic, grief) and the cultivated duty-bound will to fight.
Sañjaya reports that combatants, eager for battle, charge toward Bhīmasena. Despite the fall of a notable hero and the resulting fear among Duryodhana’s troops, they still rush at Bhīma, driven by the desire to continue the fight.
