हीनप्राणजडान्धेषु सुप्तभीतोत्थितेषु च । मत्तोन्मत्तप्रमत्तेषु न शस्त्राणि च पातयेत्‌,'गौ, ब्राह्मण, राजा, स्त्री, मित्र, माता, गुरु, दुर्बल, जड, अन्धे, सोये हुए, डरे हुए, मतवाले, उन्मत्त और असावधान पुरुषोंपर मनुष्य शस्त्र न चलाये

hīnaprāṇajaḍāndheṣu suptabhītotthiteṣu ca | mattonmattapramatteṣu na śastrāṇi ca pātayet ||

ప్రాణబలం క్షీణించినవారు, మూర్ఖులు, అంధులు; అలాగే నిద్రిస్తున్నవారు, భయపడినవారు, ఇప్పుడే లేచినవారు; మరియు మత్తులో ఉన్నవారు, ఉన్మత్తులు, అసావధానులు—వారిపై ఆయుధాలు ప్రయోగించకూడదు.
