धृतराष्ट्र रवाच अशोच्यत्वं कुतस्तेषां येषां वैरं भविष्यति । पाण्डवैर्युद्धशौण्डैर्हि बलवद्धिर्महारथै:
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca: aśocyatvaṃ kutaḥ teṣāṃ yeṣāṃ vairaṃ bhaviṣyati | pāṇḍavair yuddhaśauṇḍair hi balavaddhir mahārathaiḥ ||
ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు పలికెను—యుద్ధనిపుణులైన, బలవంతులైన మహారథులైన పాండవులతో వైరం కలగబోయే వారికి శోకరహితత్వం ఎక్కడ ఉంటుంది?
संजय उवाच
Hostility toward powerful and righteous opponents predictably yields suffering; Dhṛtarāṣṭra recognizes the moral-psychological consequence that choosing enmity against formidable warriors leads to inevitable grief.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra reflects on the looming conflict: anyone who becomes an enemy of the mighty, war-skilled Pāṇḍavas cannot remain untroubled. The line conveys his apprehension about the consequences of antagonizing them.
