Educational Q&A

Even a righteous king does not act merely on personal desire; he seeks proper authorization and wise counsel before undertaking major public rites. The verse highlights humility, procedural legitimacy, and the ethical weight of yajña as a communal and dharmic act.

In the Sabha Parva context, Yudhiṣṭhira expresses his intention to perform a sacrifice and respectfully requests Kṛṣṇa’s consent, indicating that the undertaking should proceed with the support of trusted elders/allies and with his brothers united.
