Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical reality that collective violence and downfall do not end with the warriors; the suffering spreads to families and dependents. It points to impermanence and the far-reaching consequences of actions (karma), urging restraint and responsibility because the aftermath is borne by the vulnerable.

After the annihilation of the Vṛṣṇis in the Mausala Parva, their women—overcome with grief—are shown moving in various conveyances: horse-drawn chariots and carts drawn by oxen, donkeys, and camels. The scene depicts evacuation/transition amid mourning, emphasizing the desolation following the clan’s end.
