Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
tāṁ rātrim avasat pārthaḥ keśavasya niveśane | mahatā śoka-mohena sahasābhipariplutaḥ ||
The verse highlights how even the greatest hero can be overtaken by śoka (grief) and moha (bewilderment) when confronted with irreversible loss. Ethically, it points to the fragility of human resolve and the need for steadiness in dharma when familiar supports—family, community, and even the felt nearness of the divine—begin to withdraw.
After reaching Keśava (Kṛṣṇa)’s residence, Arjuna spends the night there. On arrival he is suddenly overwhelmed by intense sorrow and confusion, reflecting the catastrophic aftermath of the Yādavas’ end and the darkening transition toward the close of the era.
