Omens in Dvārakā, Journey to Prabhāsa, and the Musala Outbreak

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the moral force attributed to a brāhmaṇa’s curse and the ripening of karma: when destructive causes have been set in motion, even great power cannot avert the ordained consequence.

A great club (musala), produced through the brāhmaṇas’ curse, becomes the instrument of death; Babhru is seen slain, and Kṛṣṇa then addresses his elder brother (contextually, Balarāma) in response to the unfolding catastrophe among the Yādavas.
