Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical and metaphysical weight attributed to a brāhmaṇa’s curse (brahmaśāpa) and the inevitability of consequences once such a force has ‘fallen’ (āpāta). It also implies a duty of prompt response: when catastrophe strikes one’s kin and polity, delay is adharma, while swift action is expected even amid grief.

After the Yādavas have perished due to a brāhmaṇa’s curse, Śrī Kṛṣṇa orders that Arjuna be summoned quickly. Dāruka, overwhelmed by sorrow, departs by chariot toward the Kuru land to convey the news and bring Arjuna.
