युधिष्ठिरने कहा--भीमसेन! तुम बहुत खाते थे और दूसरोंको कुछ भी न समझकर अपने बलकी डींग हाँका करते थे; इसीसे तुम्हें भी धराशायी होना पड़ा है ।। इत्युक्त्वा तं महाबाहुर्जगामानवलोकयन् । शध्वाप्येको5नुययौ यस्ते बहुश: कीर्तितो मया
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca—bhīmasena! tvaṃ bahu aśnāsi, anyān avamanyamānaḥ sva-balaṃ ślāghase; tasmād api tvaṃ dharaṇyāṃ nipatitaḥ. ity uktvā taṃ mahābāhur jagāma anavalokayan; śaśvāpy eko ’nuyayau yas te bahuśaḥ kīrtito mayā.
యుధిష్ఠిరుడు అన్నాడు— “భీమసేన! నీవు అతిగా తినేవాడివి; ఇతరులను లెక్కచేయకుండా నీ బలాన్ని గొప్పగా చెప్పుకొనేవాడివి; అందుకే నీవు కూడా నేలపై పడిపోయావు.” అని చెప్పి మహాబాహువు యుధిష్ఠిరుడు వెనుదిరిగి చూడక ముందుకు సాగిపోయాడు. అయినా ఒక సహచరుడు మాత్రం వెంట వచ్చాడు—నేను అనేకసార్లు కీర్తించినవాడే.
