और उसके द्वारा बाणोंकी वर्षा करके अर्जुनने कर्णको आच्छादित कर दिया। इसके बाद भी वे लगातार बाणोंका प्रहार करते रहे। तब कर्णने तेज किये हुए पैने बाणोंसे अर्जुनके धनुषकी डोरी काट डाली ।। द्वितीयां च तृतीयां च चतुर्थी पठचमीं तथा । षष्ठीमथास्य चिच्छेद सप्तमीं च तथाष्टमीम्,उसने क्रमशः दूसरी, तीसरी, चौथी, पाँचवीं, छठी, सातवीं और आठवीं डोरी भी काट दी

అర్జునుడు బాణవర్షంతో కర్ణుణ్ణి పూర్తిగా కప్పి నిరంతరం దాడి చేశాడు. అప్పుడు కర్ణుడు పదునుపెట్టిన తీక్ష్ణ బాణాలతో అర్జునుని ధనుర్జ్యాను కోసి, తరువాత వరుసగా రెండవది, మూడవది, నాలుగవది, ఐదవది, ఆరవది, ఏడవది, ఎనిమిదవ జ్యాలను కూడా తెంచివేశాడు.
