The verse uses a vivid simile—lion among deer—to convey fearless presence and commanding superiority in battle. Ethically, it highlights how valor and authority can be unmistakable in crisis, while also reminding the reader that war often magnifies unequal power, making courage and domination appear together.
Sañjaya, narrating the Kurukṣetra war, describes a leading warrior’s appearance in the thick of a chaotic melee. The warrior is portrayed as conspicuously fearless and dominant, like a lion visible among a herd of deer.
