धर्मरहस्योपदेशः

Dharma-rahasya Instruction: Vows, Truth, and Non-injury

योधांश्व॒ स्वबलं चैव समन्ताद्‌ भरतर्षभ | क्रोशतस्तव पुत्रस्य न सम राजन्‌ न्यवर्तत,संजय कहते हैं--महाराज! पाण्डवोंको आपकी सेनापर आक्रमण करते देख दुर्योधनने सब ओरसे सब प्रकारके प्रयत्नोंद्वारा उन योद्धाओंको रोकने तथा अपनी सेनाको भी स्थिर करनेका प्रयत्न किया। भरतश्रेष्ठ! नरेश्वर! आपके पुत्रके बहुत चीखने-चिल्लानेपर भी भागती हुई सेना पीछे न लौटी

sañjaya uvāca |

yodhāṃś ca svabalaṃ caiva samantād bharatarṣabha |

krośatas tava putrasya na samā rājan nyavartata ||

భరతశ్రేష్ఠా! మీ కుమారుడు చుట్టూరా గట్టిగా కేకలు వేస్తూ యోధులను, తన బలాన్ని ఆపేందుకు యత్నించాడు; అయినా రాజా, పారిపోతున్న సైన్యం తగినంతగా తిరిగి నిలువలేదు.

Educational Q&A

When an army (or any community) loses inner steadiness, mere shouting orders cannot restore discipline. Ethical decline and fear can dissolve cohesion, revealing that authority without trust and morale is ineffective.

Sanjaya reports to Dhritarashtra that as the Pandavas attack, Duryodhana tries to restrain the warriors and stabilize his forces from all sides; however, despite his loud cries, the troops in flight do not turn back.
