तेनापि रक्षिता: पार्था: शिष्यत्वादिति मे मति: । स चापि निहतो वृद्धो धृष्टद्युम्नेन सत्वरम्‌,“मेरा विश्वास है कि उन्होंने भी अपना शिष्य समझकर कदुन्तीके पुत्रोंकी रक्षा की है। वे बूढ़े आचार्य भी शीघ्र ही धृष्टद्युम्नके हाथसे मारे गये

tenāpi rakṣitāḥ pārthāḥ śiṣyatvād iti me matiḥ | sa cāpi nihato vṛddho dhṛṣṭadyumnena satvaram ||

సంజయుడు అన్నాడు—శిష్యులనే భావంతో ఆయన కూడా పార్థులను (కుంతీపుత్రులను) రక్షించాడని నా అభిప్రాయం. అయితే ఆ వృద్ధ ఆచార్యుడు కూడా ధృష్టద్యుమ్నుని చేతిలో త్వరగా హతుడయ్యాడు.

Sañjaya reflects that the venerable teacher (Droṇa) had also protected the Pāṇḍavas out of regard for them as his disciples, but despite this, he was quickly slain by Dhṛṣṭadyumna.
