Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the transience of worldly splendor and martial pride: garments, ornaments, banners, and weapons—symbols of status and power—end up shattered and scattered, revealing the ethical gravity and human cost of war.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield scene: across the military formations, the belongings and war-gear of fallen or routed warriors—clothes, jewelry, weapons, standards, armor—lie broken and dispersed, indicating intense fighting and widespread devastation.
