द्रोण–धृष्टद्युम्नयुद्धवर्णनम्
Drona–Dhrishtadyumna Battle Description
त्वया चतुर्भद्रतर: पुत्रात् पुण्यतरस्तव
tvayā caturbhadrataraḥ putrāt puṇyataras tava
అతడు నీకు నాలుగింతలు అధిక మంగళకరుడు—నీ కుమారునికన్నా మరింత పుణ్యవంతుడు.
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical valuation beyond mere biological ties: a person may be deemed more auspicious and spiritually meritorious for someone than even their own son, implying that virtue and beneficence can outweigh blood relationship.
Nārada is addressing someone directly and making a pointed comparison, declaring that a certain individual (implied by context) is fourfold more beneficial and more meritorious for the listener than the listener’s own son—serving as counsel or evaluative judgment within the episode.
