शिष्टेष्टयज्ञकर्माण: सर्वे वर्णास्तदाभवन् | उन दिनों लोग अधर्ममें रुचि रखनेवाले, लोभी और मूर्ख नहीं होते थे। उस समय सभी वर्णके लोग अपने लिये शास्त्रविहित यज्ञ-यागादि कर्मोंका अनुष्ठान करते थे
śiṣṭeṣṭa-yajña-karmāṇaḥ sarve varṇās tadābhavan |
నారదుడు పలికెను—ఆ రోజుల్లో అన్ని వర్ణాలవారు శిష్టులు ఆమోదించిన, శాస్త్రవిధిగా నియమించిన యజ్ఞ-యాగాది కర్మలను ఆచరించిరి. ఎవ్వరూ అధర్మంలో ఆసక్తి చూపలేదు; లోభులూ లేరు, మోహగ్రస్తులూ లేరు. ప్రతి వర్గం తమకు విధించిన ధర్మకర్మలను యథావిధిగా నిర్వహించెను.
