तथा मर्मातिगैर्भीष्मो निजघान महारथान् । कम्पयन् समरे सेनां पाण्डवानां परंतप:,दूसरी ओर शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले भीष्म समरांगणमें अपने मर्मभेदी बाणोंद्वारा पाण्डव-सेनाको कम्पित करते हुए उसके बड़े-बड़े रथियोंको मार रहे थे
tathā marmātigair bhīṣmo nijaghāna mahārathān | kampayan samare senāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ paraṃtapaḥ ||
ఇతరవైపు శత్రుసంతాపకుడైన భీష్ముడు యుద్ధరంగంలో మర్మభేదక బాణాలతో పాండవసేనను కంపింపజేస్తూ వారి మహారథులను సంహరిస్తున్నాడు.
