The verse highlights the ethical weight of bonds—friendship, kinship, and mutual loyalty. Even amid war, relationships and devotion shape one’s stance and speech, showing how personal ties coexist with the harsh duty of conflict.
Sañjaya, narrating events of the Kurukṣetra war, identifies Bhīma and emphasizes his formidable power and his loyalty. He frames Bhīma not merely as a warrior but as someone bound by relationship and devotion, calling him ‘slayer of enemies’ to stress his battlefield role.
