भीष्मस्य भीमसेन-निरोधः

स्थिताश्च सर्वे त्वयि भूतसंघा: कृत्वा55श्रयं त्वां वरदं सुबाहो । अनादिमध्यान्तमपारयोगं लोकस्य सेतु प्रवदन्ति विप्रा:
sthitāś ca sarve tvayi bhūtasaṅghāḥ kṛtvā śrayaṃ tvāṃ varadaṃ subāho | anādimadhyāntam apārayogaṃ lokasya setuṃ pravadanti viprāḥ ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను— హే సుబాహో, వరదాత ప్రభూ! సమస్త భూతసమూహములు నిన్నే ఆశ్రయించి నిన్నందే నిలిచియున్నవి. విప్రులు నిన్ను ఆది-మధ్య-అంతరహితుడవు, పరిమితికి అతీతుడవు, లోకధర్మమర్యాదను కాపాడే సేతువని ప్రకటిస్తారు।
