गभस्तिभिरिवादित्यस्तस्थौ शरमरीचिमान् | जैसे सर्दीके अन्तमें सूर्यदेव धरतीका जल सोखने लगते हैं, उसी प्रकार भीष्म समस्त सैनिकोंके प्राणोंका अपहरण-सा कर रहे थे। किरणोंसे सुशोभित सूर्यदेवकी भाँति भीष्म बाणरूपी रश्मियोंसे शोभा पाते हुए वहाँ खड़े थे

సంజయుడు పలికెను—భీష్ముడు కిరణమయ సూర్యునివలె నిలిచెను; అతని బాణాలే రశ్ములై ప్రకాశించెను. శీతాంతంలో సూర్యుడు భూమి తేమను శోషించునట్లు, భీష్ముడు సమస్త సైనికుల ప్రాణశ్వాసాన్ని హరించునట్లు కనిపించెను; బాణరశ్ములతో శోభించి అక్కడ నిలిచెను.
